Built Around Real Financial Understanding
We started pyranexilo in early 2019 because we'd seen too many people struggle with financial concepts that should be straightforward. My background was in banking advisory, and I kept noticing the same pattern—people would come in for help after years of confusion, when really they just needed someone to explain things properly from the start.
That initial frustration became our mission. We're not here to sell complicated investment schemes or promise overnight wealth. Instead, we teach foundational financial skills that actually stick with you beyond the classroom.
From Advisory Work to Teaching
I spent twelve years working in financial advisory before launching pyranexilo. Most of that time, I was helping clients untangle financial decisions they'd made without fully understanding the implications. The conversations were often the same—someone would tell me they wished they'd learned these basics earlier.
By 2018, I'd had enough of reactive work. Teaching felt like the better path. So we built a curriculum focused on practical application rather than theory alone. Our first cohort in March 2019 had just eight students. Now we're preparing for our autumn 2026 intake with significantly more interest.
The approach hasn't changed much, though. We still focus on teaching people how to read financial documents, understand interest calculations, and make informed decisions about their money. Nothing flashy, just solid knowledge.
Callum Fitzwilliam
Lead Financial InstructorTeaching Through Real Experience
Callum joined us in 2020 after fifteen years working with credit unions and community banks across Victoria. His strength isn't just knowing the material—it's explaining complex financial structures in ways that make immediate sense.
He runs our core financial literacy program, which covers everything from basic budgeting through to understanding loan structures and investment fundamentals. Students consistently mention his ability to relate concepts back to everyday situations. Instead of abstract examples, he uses scenarios like comparing mortgage options or evaluating superannuation choices.
- Breaks down compound interest calculations using actual Australian lending scenarios
- Guides students through reading bank statements and identifying hidden fees
- Explains tax implications of different financial decisions with practical examples
- Provides individual feedback on student-submitted financial planning exercises
His teaching style is direct. He doesn't overcomplicate things or use unnecessary jargon. If something can be explained in plain language, he does.
How Our Teaching Process Works
Foundation Week
Students start with fundamental concepts—interest rates, financial statements, basic budgeting frameworks. We cover the terminology you'll encounter throughout the program.
Applied Learning
Real financial scenarios and case studies. Students work through actual situations like evaluating loan offers, comparing investment options, and identifying financial risks.
Personal Projects
Each student develops their own financial plan using what they've learned. Instructors provide detailed feedback on their approach and calculations.
Advanced Topics
Later modules cover tax planning, superannuation strategies, and property finance. We adjust depth based on student background and goals.
What Guides Our Teaching
Honest Communication
We don't oversell outcomes or make unrealistic promises about financial success. Our job is teaching skills, not guaranteeing results.
Practical Focus
Every lesson connects to real financial situations. Theory matters, but only when you can apply it to actual decisions.
Small Group Learning
We cap classes at sixteen students so instructors can provide individual attention. Financial situations vary widely, and people learn better when teaching adapts to their specific context and questions.
Ongoing Support
Students can schedule one-on-one sessions with instructors throughout the program. Most use this for feedback on their personal financial plans or clarification on complex topics like tax optimization.
Flexible Timing
Our next program starts September 2025, with evening and weekend options for working professionals. We understand people have existing commitments.
Clear Expectations
We outline exactly what the program covers and what students should expect to learn. No hidden curriculum or surprise requirements.
We've been teaching financial literacy from our Reservoir location since 2019. If you're looking to build a stronger foundation in financial management, our autumn 2026 intake opens for applications in July 2025.
